Europe’s grid, hour by hour: when and where to run your load
At 23:39 CEST on 23 October 2026, Norway (NO2) had the cleanest grid of 15 European markets at 24 g CO2e/kWh and Poland the most carbon-intensive at 674 g. Carbon intensity, day-ahead power prices and the cheapest, cleanest hours for flexible compute across the main European data-centre markets. Built for the people who schedule workloads, report grid emissions and choose sites.

Method
Carbon intensity is the hour’s average across generation by source in each market; the price is the day-ahead auction result for its bidding zone. Each market shows its latest published hour.
The next 48 hours
Each bar is an hour. Height is the day-ahead price, colour is carbon intensity, and the outlined block is the best four-hour window still ahead.

- EUR per MWh (bar height), g CO2e per kWh (colour), one bar per hour

- Refresh
- every 10 minutes
Method
Heights are day-ahead auction prices. Colours are carbon intensity, measured for past hours and forecast ahead where a forecast is published. The outlined block is the best four consecutive hours still ahead.
Best hours to run flexible compute
Training runs, batch jobs, backups and re-indexing can move. This is how much carbon and money the best four hours save against the rest of the horizon.

Method
For each market, the best four-hour window’s carbon intensity and price are compared with the average of the remaining hours in the horizon, separately; markets are sorted by the two savings together.
Efficiency
Where a site’s PUE sits against the Commission’s first data.
Great Britain, region by region
The national figure hides a wide spread. Forecast intensity per distribution region, cleanest first.
Why the spread matters
Scottish regions running on wind and hydro sit near zero while the south of England leans on gas and imports. A site in the same country can report very different location-based emissions depending on the region it draws from.
One market at a time
Each market has its own page: the latest hour, an hour-by-hour table in local time, the best window for flexible compute and how it compares with the rest of Europe.
Notes
- Carbon intensity is estimated from each market’s generation by fuel. Forward hours follow the renewables forecast.
- Prices are day-ahead wholesale, not what a site pays.
- Hours are Central European time. Great Britain regions are half-hour forecasts.
- The PUE benchmark shows average PUE per size class from the first EED reporting round.
- The Netherlands reads high around midday, as Dutch solar output is under-reported.
- Ireland shows carbon only, with no forward hours.
- “Delayed” marks a series that missed its last refresh.
